At Signature Smiles in Woodinville, WA, we inform patients of the typical Invisalign appointment frequency schedule so patients know how often they will need to visit our office during treatment.

From start to finish, Invisalign treatment generally takes about 12 to 16 months. Some patients may need more or less time depending on their particular situation.

Your Invisalign Consultation

To determine if you are a good candidate for Invisalign, your dentist will see you for a consultation. During this visit, he or she will evaluate the health of your teeth and gums to ensure you are ready for orthodontic treatment.

If you qualify, impressions will be taken of your teeth. These molds will be sent to the Invisalign lab. Working closely with your doctor, a trained technician will create your custom aligner trays based on your unique anatomy and orthodontic goals. This process takes a few weeks to complete.

First Invisalign Appointment

When your Invisalign trays are ready, we will schedule you for another appointment at Signature Smiles. You will try the first set of aligners on, and your doctor will assess the fit.

You will also be given specific guidelines regarding your trays, including how often to wear them and how to properly clean them.

This will mark the beginning of your active treatment. From this point on, you will switch to the next set of aligners approximately every two weeks, or as directed by your dentist.

Invisalign Checkups

As you progress through the Invisalign trays, you will be seen in our office for routine follow-up visits approximately every four to six weeks. These appointments only last about 15 to 30 minutes, but they are crucial for the success of your treatment. Your dentist will assess your teeth and ensure they are shifting as expected. If any changes are necessary, they will be communicated to you during these visits.

Final Invisalign Appointment

Once your teeth have moved into their desired locations, you will be seen for your final Invisalign appointment. Your dentist will talk with you about the importance of wearing a retainer.

This appliance must be worn as directed to prevent your teeth from shifting back into their original locations. There are many different types of retainers, including removeable and permanent options. Your dentist can talk with you about which one will work best for your goals and lifestyle.

Continuing Dental Care

When your Invisalign treatment is over, you can enjoy a brilliant, beautiful new smile. It is important to continue seeing your dentist on a regular basis for dental cleanings and examinations. Be sure to bring your retainer to every visit so we can ensure it is working properly.

Most individuals benefit from dental appointments every six months. However, your dentist many recommend more frequent visits based on your individual oral health needs.
